NSW COVID case numbers fall

COVID-19 case numbers in NSW have dropped to 15,091 in the past 24 hours – down from more than 20,000 yesterday.

However, hospitalisations for COVID-19 treatment have risen from 2712 to 2816 across the state, with 196 patients now in intensive care – up from 189 on Sunday.

A further 24 deaths have also been confirmed by NSW Health.

Meanwhile, Victoria today recorded 11,695 cases – its lowest number of daily cases since January 2nd.

The state recorded 17 deaths with COVID-19 and 998 patients are currently hospitalised with the virus.

The new figures come as more than six million eligible Australians prepare to access free Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) from today.

Concessions card holders – including pensioners and veterans – will now be able to get 10 free RATs over a three-month period.
