NSW Health has confirmed two new cases of COVID-19 – a man in his 70s and woman in her 60s – on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and warned all residents in the area to be alert for symptoms of the virus.
The newly infected pair are believed to be close contacts of each other. The source of the infection is under investigation, but NSW Health said so far no links to other known cases have been identified.
The pair visited a number of venues while infectious.
NSW Health said anyone who had attended the following additional venues was considered a close contact and should get tested and isolate for 14 days, even if they receive a negative result:

“The source of these new infections is under investigation. At this stage, no links have been identified to other known cases. Contact tracing and urgent genome sequencing are underway, with genome sequencing results expected in the next 24 to 48 hours,” NSW Health said in a statement.
“Everyone living in the Northern Beaches area should monitor for even the mildest of symptoms and come forward for testing immediately if they appear, then isolate until a negative result is received.”
