Capital records 23 new infections

Canberra has recorded 23 new locally-acquired COVID-19 cases today – with 14 linked to previous cases and nine under investigation.

ACT Health says 11 of the new infections were in quarantine for their entire infectious period while 11 were infectious in the community for some time, and the movements of one case were still being finalised.

Thirteen COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalised in the Capital, with four in intensive care units and one requires a ventilator. Canberra’s youngest COVID-19 patient is aged just 18.

None of those currently in hospital with COVID-related symptoms was fully vaccinated.

The ACT’s lockdown has been extended until September 17.
