Woman caught in car boot trying to enter Qld for THIRD time

A 49-year-old woman has been fined $4,000 after trying to enter Queensland hidden under a blanket in the boot of a car that was on the back of a tow truck – it was her third attempt to enter the state without a permit.

Police say that shortly before 4pm today, officers intercepted the tow truck at the border and directed the male driver to open the boot of a sedan positioned on the tray.

“A search of the trunk uncovered a 49-year-old woman hiding under blankets and clothing,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“The woman had been denied entry to Queensland at the same border crossing in Goondiwindi on two previous occasions.”

She was arrested and transported to Boggabilla in NSW and fined $4,135 for Fail to Comply – COVID-19 Border Direction.

Queensland Police footage of the woman after she emerged from the blanket-laden boot of the car.
