Woman, 76, critical after fall from horse

A 76-year-old woman has been airlifted to hospital in a critical condition after falling from a horse on a rural property at Tenterfield.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to the property last night after receiving a report that a woman had suffered head injuries.

“Local Ambulance Paramedics attended the location and commenced treatment of the female before road transporting her to the Glen Innes Airport where the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Critical Care Medical Team rendezvoused,” the Westpac Rescue crew said in a statement.

“The female was further treated and stabilised by the Critical Care Medical Team.

“Due to the nature of the head injuries the female was placed onto a life support machine before being flown direct to the John Hunter Hospital in critical condition.”
