The Australian War Memorial will proudly welcome veterans, current serving members, their families and the public to its newly developed Parade Ground for the 2024 ACT RSL Veterans’ March this Anzac Day.
The Veterans’ March will be held on the parade ground for the first time since 2021, after construction work completed there last week.
Director of the Memorial, Matt Anderson said, “Having veterans commission the Parade Ground is a meaningful way to open the first of our new spaces. The Parade Ground will be a place to honour current and future veterans every Anzac Day for decades to come.”
ACT RSL Chief Executive, Kimberley Hicks said the organisation was delighted to have the veterans march on the newly developed Parade Ground.
“This year’s march will feature veterans from the Second World War to today. There will also be a contingent of families of veterans taking part this year,” she said.
“The Australian War Memorial is an iconic institution. Being amongst the first to march on the new Parade Ground will be a moment to remember for everyone from the oldest veteran to the youngest cadet,” said President of the ACT RSL, John King.
The march will commence at 9.30 am and proceed along Anzac Parade to the Memorial.
The Dawn Service will again be held in the Sculpture Garden this year.
