TV star George Segal dead at 87

US actor George Segal has died at the age of 87, due to complications from heart surgery.

The news of Segal’s passing was confirmed by the actor’s wife today. Segal was best known in recent years for his starring role in the TV sitcom ‘Just Shoot Me!’.

“The family is devastated to announce that this morning George Segal passed away due to complications from bypass surgery,” Sonia Segal shared in a statement via Deadline.

Segal played the role of magazine publisher Jack Gallo on Just Shoot Me! – a role that earned him a Golden Globe nomination.

Prior to his TV career, Segal was nominated for an Oscar for the 1966 drama, ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?’ along with co-stars Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.
