The AFL Masters National Carnival is returning to Darwin for the first time in more than a decade.
From 28 September to 4 October, more than 2,500 players and supporters will descend on the Top End for four days of competitive footy.
Fifty-nine teams from across every State and Territory will take to the field, with players aged 35 through to 82 competing in both men’s and women’s divisions.
“It is great to see so many supporters travelling from every corner of Australia, this event will not only showcase our passion for sport but also deliver a boost for our local economy,” said NT Minister for People, Sport and Culture, Jinson Charls.
“Sport is such an important part of life in the Northern Territory, and the AFL Masters National Carnival embodies everything we love about it – camaraderie, competition and community.
“It’s fantastic to see players of all ages and abilities coming together in Darwin to celebrate.”

Matches will be played at The Gardens, TIO and Nightcliff Ovals, with a program highlight being the Indigenous All Stars v Allies men’s and women’s matches on Friday, 3 October, ahead of the NTFL season opener.
President of AFL Masters Inc, Dean Wallington said that members of the public will easily recognise AFL Masters players and supporters by their team shirts as they make their way around the city.
“AFL Masters brings together players from a range of ages to engage in safe but full contact games of AFL with a focus on footy for fun. With a full program of 92 games across four playing days, the players and their families will have plenty of time to explore Darwin and the surrounds either before, during or after the carnival,” said Mr Wallington.

“For some that have been playing in colder climates, Darwin provides the opportunity to thaw out and enjoy premium quality ovals. We appreciate the assistance offered by many local football clubs and businesses.
“We thank the Northern Territory Government for their support.”
All matches are free to attend and will be broadcast live on KommunityTV. For match schedules and event details, visit: http://aflmasterscarnival.teamapp.com.
