Australian golf legend, Greg Norman has been diagnosed with coronavirus just days after receiving a negative test result and exhibiting ‘mild symptoms’ of the deadly virus.
The 65-year-old spent Christmas Day in a US hospital and shared photos of his stay on social media.
“This sums it all up. My Christmas Day. On behalf of millions, f*** Covid,” Norman wrote alongside a photo of himself in hospital.
“Get this s**t behind us never to experience it again.”
The previous day the golfer has posted a video announcing he’d returned a negative test for the virus earlier in the week but was still experiencing “mild symptoms” saying he felt “very flu-like” and was coughing, had a fever and aches and pains.
Norman told his legion of fans online that he was going to quarantine at home on Christmas Eve so as not to pose a risk to family and friends.
Instead, his next update came from a hospital isolation ward.
Norman’s wife, Kirsten posted a glamorous shot of herself in a red gown with a glass of champagne in hand next to a sparkling Christmas tree inside the couple’s Jupiter Island home in Florida yesterday as she prepared to celebrate Christmas without her partner of 10 years.
“This is me being optimistic, which I remember always saying was one of my strongest traits – Merry Christmas?!” she wrote on Instagram.
Norman commented on the image, saying “I cannot tell you how much I miss sharing this Christmas with you and the girls. Your optimism is one of your strengths. And it is contagious,” he wrote, followed by a red heart and kissing face emojis.
A week ago Norman was playing in the PNC Championship in Florida with his son Greg Norman Jr. The pair finished ninth in the father-son tournament, two places behind Tiger Woods and his 11-year-old son, Charlie.
