A teenage boy has been charged with assaulting a 54-year-old man outside a unit complex in Jindabyne overnight.
Police say that at about 5pm yesterday the man was allegedly seriously assaulted outside a block of units on Gippsland Street in Jindabyne.
Officers said the man left his unit to attend to a possible dispute between neighbours, before being set upon by three people in the car park of the unit complex.
The man was allegedly knocked to the ground, before being repeatedly punched and kicked. The trio fled the scene on foot.
Officers from Monaro Police District attended and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault.
As police arrived, the 54-year-old man collapsed, and was taken to Cooma Hospital by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
His condition deteriorated and he was flown to a hospital in Canberra by helicopter, where he remains in a stable condition.
Following inquiries, a 17-year-old boy was arrested at a nearby home about 8pm last night and taken to Jindabyne Police Station, where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company.
The teen was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear in a children’s court on Wednesday 7 October.
As investigations continue, police are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident, or who may have dashcam vision, to come forward.
