Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s car has been vandalised and splattered with red paint by refugee rights activists during his visit to the University of Queensland this morning.
Around 60 protesters are currently gathered at the university’s new institute of bio-engineering and nanotechnology, which the Prime Minister toured this morning.
Mr Morrison is now effectively trapped inside the building, with protestors forming a human barrier outside the entrance to the building.
The protestors have also thrown tomatoes and broccoli as part of their protest – with security guards at the facility hit with both vegetables and red paint.
Some protesters were seen holding signs that read “free the refugees” and “indefinite detention is torture”.
