Rocking Rockhampton for Seniors Month

Seniors in the Rockhampton Region can enjoy a month long celebration of free and low cost activities as part of Seniors Month.

Seniors Month celebrates the theme ‘Social Connections’ and encourages people of all ages, cultures and abilities to connect through events and activities, celebrating the important role that older people play in our communities.

Rockhampton Regional Council Communities and Heritage Councillor, Drew Wickerson, is encouraging everyone to get involved, no matter what age.

“Across the region there are some wonderful events and activities planned for our seniors, their carer’s, family and friends to get involved in,” Cr Wickerson said.

“Seniors Month is an opportunity for people of all ages to come together and celebrate the valuable contributions of older people in our community.

“We all know that being connected to others in the community is so important for our seniors and is essential for mental and physical wellbeing.

“This year’s theme of ‘Social Connections’ reinforces the importance of feeling connected and the importance of coming together to celebrate our wonderful seniors.”
