Royal call doesn’t fail to amuse

The Queen has been given a lesson in video conferencing by her daughter, Princess Anne, in a funny new clip released by ITV to promote a new documentary celebrating Princess Anne’s 70th birthday.

Anne: The Princess Royal at 70 screened in the UK on Wednesday as a 90-minute special documenting the popular royal’s life.

In the clip released online, Queen Elizabeth II is shown on-screen with other participants of a video conference call.

The Princess Royal is first seen saying hello to her mother on the Zoom call. The royals were connecting with carers in the UK to hear about their struggles and during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Can you see everybody?” Anne asks in the video, after greeting her mother. “You should have six people on your screen.”

“Yes, well, I can see four, anyway,” the Queen replies.

When the Queen reveals that she cannot in fact see her daughter on-screen, the Princess Royal laughingly quips, “You don’t need me, you know what I look like.”

It’s not yet known whether the documentary will be screened on Australian TV.
