Porsche driver slapped with 10 year ban on providing financial services

Porsche driver, Richard Pusey – whose actions following the horrific death of four Victoria Police on Melbourne’s Eastern Freeway last year repulsed Australians – has been banned from providing financial services and engaging in credit activities for 10 years.

In a statement released this afternoon, ASIC said the Melbourne-based former mortgage broker had provided seven false statements in credit licence applications and annual compliance statements between 2011 and 2017.

It continued, Mr Pusey lacks the attributes of good character, honesty and judgement, has no regard for the law and cannot be relied upon to comply with directions issued from authorities.

It said he was also likely to contravene credit legislation and financial services legislation and was not a fit and proper person to participate in the financial services and credit industries.

Mr Pusey, 43, could be released from custody this week after being jailed for 10 months for filming the dying police officers after being by a truck while pulling over Pusey’s car.

Yesterday, Mr Pusey took part in an online court hearing, where he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman at a Fitzroy home in December.

Pusey has been banned from providing financial services for 10 years.

He also pleaded guilty to using a carriage service to menace a Westpac Bank employee during a series of messages in 2019 following a credit card dispute.

In the messages, Mr Pusey called the bank worker a “f***wit c***” before making sexual comments about the person’s wife and a reference to their daughter’s second birthday.

The banning of Mr Pusey has been recorded on ASIC’s Banned and Disqualified Persons Register.
