Police release shocking assault photo

Perth detectives have released a shocking new photo showing the aftermath of an attack on an 84-year-old man outside his home in Cannington on Sunday night.

The victim is shown sitting on a bed, covered in blood and with at least one large obvious gash on his head.

It is believed that at around 7pm on Sunday, the man went to investigate a disturbance outside his Henry Street home and was assaulted by unknown offenders.

Police located the 84-year-old man with serious head and facial injuries and he was conveyed by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital where he remains in the hospital’s intensive care unit.

Police say a series of disturbance and damage complaints were reported between 6pm and 8.00pm on Derisleigh Street, Henry Street, Burge Way, Railway Parade and Central Terrace.

Detectives are urging anyone who was in the Queens Park, Cannington, East Cannington and Beckenham areas between 6pm and 8pm on Sunday 16 August, with CCTV or dash-cam vision to upload it to police via the link:
