Tasmanian Police have confirmed the deaths of two people who were onboard an overdue vessel in waters off North West Tasmania.

“The body of a woman and a man were located earlier this afternoon on the shore near Table Cape,” police said in a statement.

“The police search is ongoing to locate the boat and third person who was onboard the vessel.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with the families and loves ones affected by this tragedy.”

The trio set out on Monday from the north-west coast town of Wynyard on a 17-foot boat (pictured).

The boat was last seen anchored in Boat Harbour north-west of Wynyard, and was reported missing on Monday night when it failed to return.
