Police are investigating the assault of an elderly man in Wagga Wagga at the weekend.

Police say that at around 11.20pm on Sunday, an 86-year-old man heard a knock on the wall of his home on Mair Street, Turvey Park.

“The man opened the front door and was confronted by another man who punched him to the face and then fled on foot,” NSW Police said in a statement.
