As states and territories close their borders to NSW, a new COVID-19 case has been identified in Victoria that is linked to a Sydney case of the virus.
Health authorities say the new positive case – a man in his 60s – flew from Melbourne to Sydney and then returned to Melbourne last weekend, returning a positive test result for coronavirus this morning.
Victorian Health Minister, Martin Foley said the man was infected with the Delta variant of the virus.
“He attended his daughter’s house in a green zone in Sydney at an event on Saturday night,” Mr Foley said.
“He came back to Melbourne on Sunday evening on a flight.”
He said the man began showing symptoms at around 10pm on Tuesday night and went to get tested on Wednesday.
