New 50-bed aged care home for Rutherglen

The Victorian Government has announced plans for a $57 million 50-bed public aged care facility for Rutherglen.

The current facility, Glenview Residential Aged Care, was built in the 1930s.

Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers, Luke Donnellan said a modern new aged care facility would deliver a bigger, better and safer home for residents, their loved ones and staff.

“We’re ensuring that older Victorians – our parents and grandparents – continue to receive the care and dignity they deserve in their later years,” said Mr Donnellan.

“A bigger and better aged care facility in Rutherglen will ensure the very best care and comfort for local residents – and confidence for their families.”

He said the new Glenview Aged Care Facility in Rutherglen – to be operated by Indigo North Health – would also provide an additional 10 beds in an environment that is dementia friendly and better suited to supporting the needs of older Victorians, staff and visitors.

Residents will be accommodated in single bedrooms with a private ensuite, in settings that promote dignity, privacy, tailored care and independence. Early works are expected to commence by late 2022 and the project completed by early 2025.
