Over-50s lifestyle resort developer, GemLife, today marked the start of construction on a new flagship community for the Gold Coast.
The development features a country club, rooftop infinity-edge pool, bowling alley, cinema, wine lounge and virtual golf among its suite of facilities.
The $200 million GemLife Gold Coast is set on a 46-hectare elevated site in Pimpama capturing city skyline and mountain views, and will be the city’s largest resort of its kind according to developers.
It will ultimately comprise 365 homes, delivered in stages over more than three years, along with fitness, wellness, relaxation and recreation amenities designed for today’s increasingly active and healthy over-50s.
GemLife has 10 lifestyle resorts across South-East Queensland, Northern NSW and Victoria.
The first stage of the latest development’s 77 homes is now selling off-the-plan, priced from $605,000, with 13 designs available, each including two bedrooms plus a multi-purpose room, 192sqm to 211sqm of living space, designer finishes and a six-star energy rating.
GemLife Director and Chief Executive Officer, Adrian Puljich said GemLife Gold Coast was set to be its flagship lifestyle resort, and was its first community developed in the city.
“The level of amenity for residents at GemLife Gold Coast will be truly second to none,” he said.
“It will cater to a host of recreational pursuits and opportunities to socialise, whether catching up at the bar or café, creating a masterpiece in the arts studio or workshop, picking out a new read at the library, going to the hair salon or taking to the dance floor – to name a few.
“Residents will live the resort lifestyle every day, from the golf simulator, to the sky lounge and the infinity-edge pool complete with semi-submerged sunlounges and poolside cabanas.
“We know our over-50s are staying healthier and living longer and, as they get older, they prioritise activities that mean the most to them – from friendships to fitness and simply feeling good. GemLife Gold Coast is designed to meet that benchmark every day.
“The luxury will continue within the homes, which feature generously proportioned living spaces and quality finishes, for the ultimate comfort and style.
“We’ve already been inundated with enquiry from those wanting to know more about the new community and are expecting our first stage of homes to be in high demand.”
Mr Puljich said interest in the Gold Coast development was coming from across South-East Queensland, particularly from the younger end of the over-50s demographic.
“There has been a shift in recent years that has seen younger buyers looking to take advantage of the active lifestyle benefits of an over-50s resort and, based on early enquiry, we’re set to see that trend continue at GemLife Gold Coast,” he said.
“Enquiries are predominately from buyers on the Gold Coast and Brisbane, with the location in the northern Gold Coast corridor making it easily accessible to both city centres.”
Gold Coast Division 1 Councillor, Mark Hammel said he looked forward to welcoming the first GemLife residents to the area.
“I’m very supportive of this kind of facility, and more like it, being built, as there is strong demand for over 50s living on the far northern Gold Coast,” Cr Hammel said.
“Pimpama is one of the fastest-growing suburbs in the country and an area many young families now call home. I’ve had feedback from the community that many grandparents would like more opportunities to live nearer to their children and grandchildren, so GemLife in Pimpama will afford hundreds of people that opportunity.”
GemLife Gold Coast’s masterplan and facilities have been designed by Gold Coast architect Jared Poole, director of Jared Poole Design.
Mr Poole said the three-level Country Club, which spans an impressive 7000sqm of floor space, the Wellness Club and ‘Peak Pavilion’ – a viewing deck and open-air amphitheatre – were designed with the Gold Coast lifestyle in mind.
“With our prestige background, we wanted every space to exude a touch of resort-style luxury while maintaining an essence of comfort, breaking the mould for over-50s living,” said Mr Poole.
“Our brief was to create a premium high-street village feel and sense of community. The pinnacle is undoubtably the rooftop entertaining space, which will be a place for residents to relax or socialise while taking in panoramic views from North Stradbroke to Burleigh.”
