Man charged after zoo swim

A court notice has been issued to a man after he allegedly trespassed at a zoo and swum in an aquarium enclosure this week.

Police say that the man entered the aquarium section of Sydney Zoo located on the Great Western Highway at Eastern Creek on Monday afternoon.

It’s alleged the man ignored warning signs and entered the water of the aquarium, while being filmed by his friends.

The incident was reported to police later that day and officers attached to Blacktown Police Area Command commenced an investigation into the incident.

The investigation included viewing footage that had been uploaded to social media.

Following inquiries, a 30-year-old man was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for the offences of behave in offensive manner, enter inclosed non-agricultural lands interfere etc business, and open/enter/damage animal enclosure.

The Peakhurst man is due to appear in Blacktown Local Court on 17 September.
