Man arrested after guide dog kicked

A 53-year-old man has been charged after allegedly kicking a guide dog in Sydney’s west this morning.

Police say that just before 10am, officers were called to High Street, Penrith, after reports a dog had been kicked by an unknown man.

Police have been told a woman/man was training the guide dog at the time of the incident.

“It has since been taken to a vet for assessment,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“Officers from Nepean Police Area Command attended and arrested a 53-year-old man.”

He has been taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with commit an act of cruelty upon an animal.

He was refused bail and is due to appear in Parramatta Local Court tomorrow.
