An 82-year-old man (pictured) has been charged with the murder of his partner following the discovery of the woman’s body at their Varsity Lakes home yesterday afternoon.
A neighbour alerted police to the horrific scene after noticing the couple lying motionless inside the house around 1.30pm yesterday.
Emergency crews arrived on the scene and pronounced the man’s 82-year-old partner deceased shortly after.
The man was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital suffering life-threatening injuries.
He has been under guard since arriving at the hospital and has now been charged with his partner’s death.
He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today, pending a hospital clearance.
