A brave 13-year-old boy has assisted in the arrest of a 70-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting him in a public toilet at Wentworthville yesterday.

Police will allege in court that at around 1.15pm on Monday, a 13-year-old boy entered the public toilets on The Kingsway at Wentworthville.

“While inside the facility he was sexually assaulted by a 70-year-old man,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“The man left the toilets and was chased by the boy down the road where he was arrested by officers from Cumberland Police Area Command.”

CCTV vision shows the boy chasing the man out of the toilet, down an arcade and across a busy street.

Witnesses say the man then attempted to flee the area in a taxi, but the boy held the taxi door open as he called for help from bystanders.

He was taken to Granville Police Station where he was charged with sexual assault of a child aged between 10 and 14.

He was refused bail and will appear in Fairfield Local Court today.
