Latrobe City Council’s Positive Ageing Festival is back this October, bringing together more than 100 events and activities designed to celebrate, support and connect older residents across the municipality.
Latrobe City Council Mayor, Sharon Gibson, said the festival was a way to honour the generations who have helped shape Latrobe City into the community it is today.
“Positive ageing is about remaining connected, active and involved in the things that matter most to you,” Cr Gibson said.
“The Positive Ageing Festival provides opportunities for people to try new things, meet others, explore local services and enjoy a range of fun activities.
“With more than 100 events on offer, there really is something for everyone. We encourage people to book early, particularly for the Country Concert featuring Wendy Stapleton, as bookings are already filling fast.”
As part of the Victorian Seniors Festival, Australia’s largest celebration of older people, the Positive Ageing Festival, highlights the valuable contribution older residents make to Latrobe City while creating opportunities to build new connections, learn new skills and stay active.
The month-long festival includes a diverse program of free and low-cost events for people aged 55 years and over, as well as their families, carers, friends and support networks. The program includes everything from historical walking tours, music performances and social gatherings to behind-the-scenes bus tours, health and wellbeing activities and learning opportunities across Latrobe City.
The festival delivers on priorities set out in the Council Plan 2025-2029 by creating opportunities for community connection, participation and access to Council services.
