Search underway for missing judge

UPDATE 7pm, 5 October, 2020

A man missing in the Mount Coot-tha region has been identified as Federal Circuit Court Judge, Guy Andrew.

Judge Andrew sparked a police search earlier today after his car was found abandoned on the side of the road near a Mount Coot-tha walking track. The high profile judge reportedly walks in the area regularly.

Police investigations indicate he left his North Brisbane address early yesterday and drove in the direction of Mount Coot-tha

His car was found at Dillon Road, The Gap around 2pm today but there has been no sign of Judge Andrew.

He is described as Caucasian, 176cm tall with grey hair and brown eyes.

Police and family hold grave concerns for his welfare.

The judge last worked on Friday, where he dealt with six family court matters.

Judge Andrews was reportedly recently counselled over his behaviour following complaints from two lawyers.

In a September judgement, Judge Andrew was found to have shown apprehended bias when presiding over a family law case. A three-judge bench ruled that there was no basis for “cruel, insulting, humiliating and rude” comments he had made in court.

Lawyers representing the father in the matter said Judge Andrew’s conduct had denied him a fair trial.

Judge Andrew was appointed as the sole Federal Circuit Court judge in Townsville last year.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts or has seen him is urged to contact police.
