A South Australian father has been charged with the shooting deaths of his 19-year-old son and the teenager’s girlfriend in a shocking incident in rural SA overnight.
The bodies of the man’s son and his girlfriend, both 19, were found by police at the farm property around 11.30pm yesterday.
Police say the 46-year-old man was arrested at the scene in Mount McIntyre without incident.
The couple were believed to have been visiting the property from Adelaide when a family gathering took a horrifying turn.
“We do have people that were here at the time, we are working through and supporting those,” said Detective Inspector Campbell Hill.
“It’s a tragic event and the impacts of this will not only be felt for the particular families involved and the associates and the relatives, but also for the south-eastern community.”
The father has been charged with two counts of murder and is due to appear in Mount Gambier Magistrates Court today.
