NSW Ambulance officer, Chief Inspector Peter Rowlands has been awarded the Australian Ambulance Service Medal as part of the Australia Day 2021 Honours List.
In a statement online, NSW Ambulance said Peter had worked in a number of leadership roles since joining NSW Ambulance in 1967 as a cadet.
“Throughout his career he has delivered clinical services, leadership, innovation and staff support,” it said.
“He played a key role in the original roll out of defibrillators to every ambulance in the state.”
His proud employer described him as a well-respected mentor and leader, and often the person staff will go to for advice and guidance.
“He also established NSW Ambulance’s first ever equestrian team in the early 1990s, which competed throughout the state,” NSW Ambulance said.
“Mr Rowlands has provided dedicated and committed service to NSW Ambulance, and to the community, throughout his distinguished career with over 50 years of service.”
“Thank you for your service Peter and congratulations.”
