Detectives have arrested two people as part of an ongoing investigation into an incident in East Cannington on Sunday in which an 84-year-old man was callously bashed outside his home.
Police say that at around 7pm on Sunday the elderly man went to investigate a disturbance outside his Henry Street, East Cannington home and was viciously assaulted.
Police located the 84-year-old man with serious head and facial injuries outside his home and he was conveyed by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital.
WA Police Force prioritised resources to investigate this incident, and there has been an overwhelming response from the community in respect to sharing the appeal for information and posting messages of support online for the victim.

This morning Cannington Detectives arrested two men.
A 28-year-old man was arrested in Kelmscott, and a search warrant was executed at his residence in Seville Grove.
A 24-year-old man was arrested in Yanchep, and a search warrant was executed at his residence in Armadale.
The two men remain in police custody and the investigation is ongoing.
