Queensland Police are speaking with a 34-year-old Southport man in relation to the discovery of a seriously injured 77-year-old man on the side of the road at Miami early this morning.
“Investigations by police identified the man who they believe can assist them,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
A car has also been seized by police at Burleigh Heads.
It follows the discovery of the unconscious man by a member of the public in a grassed area near the Gold Coast Highway around 3.35am today.
The 77-year-old man was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment to serious injuries believed to be caused by a traffic incident, Police said.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and continues to appeal for any witnesses or dashcam in the area
