Plans have been revealed for a multimillion-dollar residential aged care facility to be built in
Brisbane’s north.
Developed by Rockpool Residential Aged Care, the $43 million project is expected to be Australia’s first 5-star Green Star rated aged care building.
It will feature six levels of 30 bed communities where residents’ daily health care needs such as GP appointments, physiotherapy and specialist consultations will be met.
Rockpool CEO Melissa Argent said it was exciting to expand the company’s residential aged care facilities across south east Queensland.
“As a Queensland owned and run business, it’s exciting to be able to build a new facility from the ground-up in such a great location and to merge with the vibrant community in Carseldine Village,” Ms Argent said.
“Carseldine Village has been very successful, setting a high benchmark for innovative, sustainable development, very popular with home buyers, and we believe it will have a similar appeal for residents for our aged care facility.
“We specialise in providing world-class facilities and services and creating an environment that allows our residents to live better.”
Located in the heart of Carseldine Urban Village, the development will create more than 120 construction jobs and more than 250 ongoing jobs.
In partnership with the Queensland Government, Rockpool’s facility will be part of a 100% net zero energy emission community.
Member for Aspley, Bart Mellish said the project would support Queensland’s ongoing economic recovery and deliver quality aged care for North Brisbane.
“We’re partnering with Rockpool Residential Aged Care to deliver better aged care for our community and deliver more jobs for the region,” Mr Mellish said.
“This is a new, world-class project, which will provide stimulus to support the construction industry, while also creating long-term job opportunities in an industry with rising demand.
“The addition of the residential aged care development, which is subject to the necessary approvals, will ensure Carseldine Village has a wide-range of living and lifestyle options on offer, as well as ongoing employment opportunities.
“I’m also proud to say that Carseldine Village has just been awarded a 5-Star Green Star Communities certification from the Green Building Council of Australia, rating it as Australian Excellence in best practice sustainability.”
Construction is set to commence in May 2021 with completion expected in October 2022.
