To mark 100 years since the Country Women’s Association was established in Australia, the Royal Australian Mint (the Mint) has released two new commemorative coins.
Over the last century, the Country Women’s Association has proudly represented the women of rural Australia, giving them and their families an enduring voice on issues affecting rural communities.
As Australia’s largest women’s non-governmental organisation, with 44,000 members across 1,855 branches, these commemorative coins represent a unique opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the past 100 years, and look toward to their future advocacy.
CEO of the Royal Australian Mint, Leigh Gordon said commemorating the Centenary of the CWA highlights the important work they have done for Australia over the last hundred years.
“For the last century, the Country Women’s Association has played an important role in advancing the rights of women across Australia, especially in regional and remote areas.”
“With this coin release, we are proud to recognise the contributions the Country Women’s Association has made to Australia.”

The poignant design of the coin, inspired by a cotton doily, highlights the isolation women in the country can feel, while also acknowledging the strong network of support and friendship that women develop in the Country Women’s Association.
The Centenary of the Country Women’s Association 2022 $1 Uncirculated Coin is available in an unlimited mintage, retailing for $12.50, and is available from the Mint’s eShop. The 2022 $1 Selectively Gold Plated Silver Proof Coin is available in a limited mintage of 2,022 retailing for $80.00 and can be purchased from the Mint’s Contact Centre (1300 652 020).
