Sydney Festival roadshow heads to Goulburn

Goulburn Performing Arts Centre has teamed up with Southern Tablelands Arts to present Best of the Fest; a selection of filmed versions of highlights of the 2022 Sydney Festival.

Produced by Australian Theatre Live to bring festival events to regional and rural audiences, four films over three sessions at GPAC, on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May, showcase spectacular live theatre highlights of this year’s Sydney Festival.

Goulburn Performing Arts Centre Manager, Raina Savage said, “Not only is this a great opportunity to see cutting edge performances fresh from Sydney Festival, a share of all ticket proceeds go to local mental health services, in our case Goulburn Headspace.”

Southern Tablelands Arts Executive Director, Rose Marin said, “From award-winning theatre to baroque music, giant dinosaurs, and soaring acrobatic feats, these four unique films bring the stage to the screen with something to entertain all ages and tastes.”

7pm, Saturday 28th May: (STAY) 宿 presented by Kuyrinji, SAtheCollective & OzAsia Festival A hauntingly beautiful blend of music, dance, film, design and dialogue. Part concert, part story, part ceremony.
2pm, Sunday 29th May: Prehistoric Picnic presented by Erth and Royal Botanic Gardens & Domain Trust Sydney’s world-famous dino-recreationists evoke 65 million years ago with their towering 3-metre-tall Thunderbirds, against the spectacular backdrop of the Goulburn Performing Arts Centre. Meet the ancient creatures that are remembered in the stories of the first people of our nation.

Evening double bill:

4pm, Sunday 29th May: The Pulse presented by Gravity & Other Myths Physical theatre with 24 bodies and 26 voices. Presented by a company that routinely eludes earth’s forces and a euphoric symphony of strength, sinew and song, it sends humans into the air and hearts into the mouth.

6pm, Sunday 29th May: Italian Baroque presented by Australian Brandenburg Orchestra & Circa. The Australian Brandenburg Orchestra takes you on a rollicking ride through Italy’s multi-layered past with a daring new choreography from Circa’s energetic acrobats.

Tickets for each of the shows are just $10 for adults, and $5 for children, with 10% of revenue going to Headspace Goulburn.
