A 61-year-old woman was due to face court today charged with the alleged neglect of an 84-year-old man in Sydney’s Inner West which led to the man’s death last year.
On Sunday 1 May 2022, NSW Police were called to an address on Nelson Street in Rozelle, where they found the elderly man allegedly semi-conscious and in a state of neglect.
The man was taken to hospital where he remained under care for a number of months, before he passed away as a result of his injuries in December.
“Strike Force Bondy was established by detectives attached to Leichhardt Police Area Command to investigate the circumstances of the incident,” NSW Police said in a statement today.
“Following extensive inquiries, about 9am today, officers attended a home on Nelson Street, Rozelle, where they arrested a 61-year-old woman.”
The woman was taken to Newtown Police Station where she was charged with manslaughter and refuse to provide necessities of life (endanger life) (DV).
She was refused bail to appear in Downing Centre Local Court today.
