Woman, 84, viciously attacked in Murrumbidgee break-in

NSW Police are appealing for public assistance after reports an elderly woman was viciously attacked during an aggravated break and enter in the state’s Murrumbidgee region yesterday.

Police say that at around 8.30am on Monday, an 84-year-old woman was found in her home on Twynam Street, Narrandera, “covered in blood”.

“NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the woman at the scene for injuries to her face, including a fractured eye socket, swelling and bruising to both eyes, a deep laceration to her cheek, and bruising to her back,” Police said in a statement.

“She was conveyed to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital and then airlifted to Canberra Hospital, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

“Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District were notified and commenced an investigation into the cause of the woman’s injuries.”

Strike Force Trebartha has been established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
