An 81-year-old woman has been airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car in Ballina this morning.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance to the accident in the northern NSW town around 10am.
“An 81-year-old female sustained serious head and pelvic injuries in a pedestrian accident with a vehicle in the township,” Westpac Rescue said in a statement.
“The patient was treated on scene by NSWA paramedics and the Helicopter Critical Care Medical Team prior to transporting her by ambulance to Ballina Airport to where the helicopter is currently based.
“Due to her injuries she was placed into a medically induced coma prior to airlifting her to Gold Coast University Hospital for further treatment.”
The rescue chopper crew said the elderly woman was in a serious but stable condition.
