A 60-year-old woman has been charged following an ongoing investigation into the alleged defrauding of more than $380,000 from four victims.
Detectives attached to Sydney City Police Area Command, Burwood Police Area Command and Liverpool Police Area Command commenced an investigation after four people reported being defrauded between September 2016 and May 2021, NSW Police said in a statement today.
“Following extensive inquiries, about 9.50pm yesterday, officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command arrested a 60-year-old woman at an address on Saunders Street, Pyrmont,” NSW Police said.
She was taken to Surry Hills Police Station and charged with four counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception.
Police will allege the woman stole $381,962.75 from four people who believed the money was being invested into a trust, however, the trust did not exist, Police said.
The woman was refused bail and is due to appear in Central Local Court today
