Wollongong man, 80, charged with child abuse, bestiality offences

An 80-year-old Cordeaux Heights man has been charged with allegedly possessing child abuse and bestiality material.

NSW Police will allege that between March and August this year, the man downloaded approximately 2,600 files of child abuse and bestiality material.

“Last month, just before 8.30am on Thursday 9 October, investigators executed a search warrant at a home in Cordeaux Heights and seized several electronic devices, including one desktop computer capable of storing 8.5 years’ worth of continuous high-definition video recordings,” Police said in a statement today.

During the initial examination, investigators allegedly discovered 449 child abuse videos and 1,080 bestiality videos.

Yesterday morning, the 80-year-old man was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station.

He’s been charged with 12 counts of possess child abuse material and seven counts of Possess Bestiality Material.

He was refused bail to appear in Wollongong Local Court today.
