Victorian Police have today shot and killed fugitive gunman, Stanley Turvey, at Ardmona near the northern city of Shepparton.
The shooting follows a three-day search across regional Victoria by police for Turvey (pictured), who was wanted on an arrest warrant.
Victoria Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) attended a home in Ardmona, near Shepparton, just after 10.15am today.
“They were confronted by Turvey, who was armed, and subsequently shot him,” Victoria Police said in a statement.
“First aid was provided and paramedics declared him dead at the scene.”
Police had been hunting for the 33 year-old since Monday when he allegedly shot at officers as they attempted to arrest him at Katandra West.
“Homicide Squad detectives will investigate the incident with oversight by Professional Standards Command, as per standard procedure,” Victoria Police said.
“We would like to thank the community for assisting police with this investigation.”
