A young Victorian student has woken up to the reality that he is a multimillionaire, as a $4.8 million ‘Set for Life’ lottery windfall begins to trickle into his bank account.
The Melburnian, who is aged in his 20s, from the suburb of Campbellfield held the only division one winning entry nationally in Set for Life draw 3266, which was drawn last night.
He can look forward to a total division one prize of $4.8 million, paid in monthly instalments of $20,000 a month for the next 20 years.
The victorious Victorian shared he purchased his ticket minutes before the draw’s close time and today thanked his lucky stars for doing so.
“Thank you so much,” he laughed. “I’ve been waiting for your call!
“I have butterflies in my stomach. It’s so unexpected. I bought the ticket at the very last minute, and I nearly didn’t go through with it!
“It wasn’t until I was going to bed last night around 11pm that I decided to see how my ticket went. I was expecting division four or five, not division one!
“I’ve already shared the news with my parents and some close friends; they were all so happy for me.
“Normally I would mark my own lottery numbers, but I decided to switch it up to a QuickPick because my numbers weren’t doing much. Thank you so much.”
With $20,000 about to land into his bank account on the 15th of every month for the next two decades, he says he will invest the prize money for the future and pay off his degree.
“I haven’t thought of any immediate plans just yet but I’m thinking I might invest the prize,” he revealed.
“I’m also studying my master’s degree and will need to pay off my student loans. Maybe I’ll buy a house, go on a holiday and also a buy new car but I need to have a think about it all.
“We have plans to celebrate tonight with a nice dinner.”
The winning numbers in Set for Life draw 3266 on Saturday 13 July 2024 were 34, 23, 40, 43, 39, 2 and 26, while the supplementary numbers were 7 and 35.
