Two light planes crash killing pilots, aged 77 and 80

Two men – aged 80 and 77 – have died following a collision between two light planes at Kybong in Queensland’s Gympie region this afternoon.

Queensland Police say initial investigations indicate that two light aircrafts have collided in the air before crashing into a paddock near Glory Hill Road at around 2.45pm.

“The pilots and sole occupants in each aircraft, a 80-year-old Caboolture man and a 77-year-old Glenwood man, were declared deceased at the scene,” Police said in a statement.

“The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the incident. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.”
