Three injured in Blue Mountains bus crash

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash in the Blue Mountains earlier today.

Police say that at around 7.30am, emergency services responded to reports of a crash between a truck towing a trailer and a bus, at the intersection of the Great Western Highway and Somers Street at Lawson.

“The driver of the truck – a 24-year-old man – was trapped in the vehicle before being released by officers from Police Rescue and NSW Fire & Rescue,” NSW Police said in a statement.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being air lifted to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition. A male passenger in the truck suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

“The driver of the bus – a 62-year-old man – and passenger – a 12-year-old boy – also suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene,” NSW Police said.

As inquiries continue, officers are appealing for anyone who have witnessed the crash, or has dashcam footage of the incident, to come forward.
