Third man charged over Bonnyrigg home invasion

NSW Police have charged a third man over an alleged home invasion in Sydney’s south-west earlier this year.

Police say that just after 10pm on Saturday, January 14th, a number of men allegedly forced their way into a home on Salecich Place, Bonnyrigg, and pointed a gun at two men, aged 40 and 58.

“The group allegedly discharged a number of gun shots before stealing cash and driving away from the scene in a utility truck,” NSW Police said in a statement.

A further three people were inside the home at the time; no one was injured.”

Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command were notified a short time later. While enroute to the property, responding officers stopped a ute on Park Road, Cabramatta, where they spoke with two male occupants – aged 43 and 52.

“During a search of the vehicle, officers located and seized a hunting knife, a gel blaster pistol, a homemade silencer, and mobile phones. All items seized underwent forensic examination,” Police said.

The two men were arrested and taken to Fairfield Police Station.

The 43-year-old man from Rosemeadow was charged with special aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, fire firearm manner likely injure persons/property, acquire pistol subject to firearms prohibition order, and custody of knife in public place. He remains bail refused to next appear at Parramatta Local Court on March 16th.

The 52-year-old man from Airds was charged with special aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, and fire firearm manner likely injure persons/property. He also remains bail refused to next appear at Parramatta Local Court on March 9th.

“Following the initial investigations, the matter was referred to the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad under Strike Force Wearden,” NSW Police said.

“As part of ongoing inquiries, strike force detectives – assisted by Raptor Squad officers – executed a search warrant at a home in Cabramatta about 6am today.”

A 34-year-old man was arrested at the property and taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with in company rob while armed with dangerous weapon, and fire firearm manner likely injure persons/property.

He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court later today.
