Queensland Police have charged a 17-year-old boy following an alleged armed robbery of a 56-year-old man in Mackay overnight.
Officers will allege that just before 7pm, the man was leaving a Finch Street, Slade Point business before the teenager, armed with a large wooden object, approached him.
“The boy then proceeded to strike the man in the face and back with the object before demanding personal items from the man,” Police said in a statement.
“The boy then entered the man’s vehicle and proceeded to steal multiple items before fleeing the scene.”
Police say the man sustained bruising and cuts to his face as a result of the attack.
Later that evening police charged a 17-year-old Slade Point boy with armed robbery. He is due to appear in Mackay Childrens Court.
Police are also appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have Dashcam / CCTV footage of the area around that time to come forward.
