Teen charged over Maroochydore stabbing

A 15-year-old Forest Glen boy has been charged and another boy remains at large following the stabbing of a 45-year-old man in Maroochydore yesterday.

Police say they were called to reports of an alleged altercation between two boys and a man at the Maroochydore bus station on Horton Parade at around 2.45pm on Monday.

“It will be alleged the 45-year-old Maroochydore man had been kicked in the head and stabbed once in his thigh,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“The man was transported to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“Initial investigations indicate the boys and the man are not known to each other.”

Police say the boys ran from the scene but one was located at a property on Bungama Street, Maroochydore at around 8.30pm last night.

He has been charged with one count each of common assault and wounding and was refused police bail, to appear in Maroochydore Children’s Court today.

Police say they are continuing to work to locate the second boy involved in the alleged assault.
