Taxi driver threatened with knife

Victorian Police have arrested a man after a taxi driver was threatened with a knife in Melton this morning.

Investigators have been told the driver picked up a male passenger on Church Street about 6.30am.

“The man allegedly produced a knife and threatened the driver if he didn’t take the man to Hampton Park,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

“The man got out of the taxi in Oaktree Drive and the taxi driver quickly called police.”

A 22-year-old Melton man was arrested nearby a short time later and police seized a knife.

He is currently assisting investigators with their enquiries.
