Stolen classic Holden found incinerated

A classic 1979 Holden Kingswood, stolen from a home in Pakenham last week, has been found burnt out in Menzies Creek overnight.

A member of the public saw a car on fire near parklands near Lake Aura Vale and called Triple Zero (000) at around 11.30pm on Tuesday.

Officers who attended the scene identified the vehicle as being the sentimental 1970’s Holden Kingswood in which the owner and detectives had yesterday appealed for it’s return.

“Police have seized the Holden which will now undergo forensic testing,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

“Police are appealing to anyone who has information about the fire or theft of the Kingswood to come forward.

“The car was stolen during a burglary which occurred on Friday 15 September about 5am.”

The car was believed to be worth around $45,000.

Anyone with information or CCTV footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
