Search resumes for man, 68, missing in Nepean River

A search has resumed this morning for a 68-year-old man who disappeared after jumping into the Nepean River south of Penrith yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Nortons Basin at Mulgoa, about 20km south of Penrith, at around 11am on Saturday and were told a man had jumped into the river to retrieve his fishing rod but failed to resurface.

A search involving officers from Nepean Police Area Command, State Emergency Services’ (SES), Fire and Rescue NSW, and NSW Ambulance began, assisted later in the day by Police Divers.

The search was suspended about 5.30pm yesterday and resumed at 9am today.
