SA Police return stolen war medals to veteran’s family

South Australian Police has reunited six stolen military medals with the family of the medals’ recipient, World War II veteran, Captain Maxwell George Worthley.

A/Detective Sergeant Nic Jong today returned Captain Worthley’s World War II medals to his appreciative nephew, David.

The six medals were found by police during a search of a property at Elizabeth Downs earlier this month.

Captain Maxwell George Worthley, enlisted at Broadview on 21st June 1940. He served in the Middle East, New Guinea, and Borneo.

“Police would like to thank all those who conducted their own research, called Crime Stoppers with information, and those who liked and shared the original social media post,” SA Police said in a statement following the return of the medals.
