Queensland Police detectives have charged a man after he allegedly attacked a 51-year-old man with a chainsaw at Burpengary East in the early hours of Sunday morning.
“It will be alleged around 1am an initial altercation occurred between two men who both live in Koda Street concerning an earlier noisy party,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
“During the altercation a 24-year-old man was punched in the head and bitten on the arm, stomach and leg.”
Police say the man then left the front yard of the house, kicking over and destroying the letterbox as he went.
“The 24-year-old man and a 51-year-old were still in the front yard when the other man returned a short time later with an electric chainsaw.”
“He has then struck the 51-year-old man across the torso and upper arm with the chainsaw.”
He was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A 36-year-old Burpengary East man will appear in the Redcliffe Magistrates Court today charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, and one count each of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and wilful damage.
